Fabulon ART at Avondale Therapy presents: In the Air 2 by Lynne Riding Exhibition June 3- August 30th At Avondale Therapy Artist Reception June 10, 5-8pm Take a departure from the typical summer events and activities. Slip inside Avondale Therapy on 815 Savannah Highway. See the beautifully decorated lobby. Formally 4th Wall Gallery, the new owner of the space Elise Richards, graciously allows Fabulon to curate special shows here. This current show features cool blues and crisp lines that evoke the sense of a sultry summer wind. “Although my work is of an abstract nature, it always stems from the place and surroundings in which I find myself, from color observed, a line seen in space, or the found object. “ Lynne riding has a strong connection to the ocean both as an artist, and as a past competitive windsurfer and sailor. Originally from England, she now calls Charleston her home. She has a studio in West Ashley and teaches at The Art Institute.
The Quench Project by Robert Maniscalco Although one of Charleston’s more prolific artists, Robert Maniscalco, may seem an unlikely fit for Fabulon, it was his most recent portraits of people not typically chosen to be subjects, and of those not in a position to request it, that intrigued Fabulon. Robert is a painter perhaps better known for his traditional portraits, being a former PBS TV host, author, and teacher. But Robert is also a social realist, documentarian, and courtroom sketch artist. Addressing racism, and “the role of artists as the visionaries behind the current revolution of mindfulness” is Robert’s mission. The Quench Project and the mire of desire. TQP, as he affectionately calls his collection, will be exhibited at Fabulon from July 11 to August 10, 2017. There will be an opening reception on July 15, 5-8 pm. Breakout Session on August 8, 5-8 pm will offer viewers an opportunity for more intimate discussions with the artist, some small group activities, and a painting demonstration.
