Call for Artists

Fabulon, A Center for Art and Education in Charleston, SC is calling for entries for its December group show in Photography called “A New Take on the Portrait”  from December 1-30th with an artists reception on December 4.

With cell phone cameras so handy, we are documenting everything from mundane to the monumental. Has the photographer as an artist been devalued in a saturated market? Does a camera phone make everyone a photographer?  Do we still appreciate photography as fine art?

Calling photographers who are artists.

The show will be an exhibit and sale of photographs portrait style taken in a journalistic manner. Tell a story. Record more than basic details. Reveal the essence of the subject. Subjects may be human, animal, or object. Nothing staged. No mixed media.

Entry Guideline and Fee:

Using the form on the Fabulon website, interested artists should provide 3-5 representative examples of their work, an artist statement, and a $25 non-refundable fee.
